March 6, 2009 Class Review

SAE (Supervised Agricultural Experience) Workday. As part of Ag class students are required to keep records on an agriculture activity. We periodically have workdays in class for them to work on their records and to insert them into the computerized records. If students don't have a true Ag related project they are still expected to keep records about their job or some other activity that they have made arrangements with Mr. Straube on. This is required part of Ag Class. Students who don't continue with there projects will have difficulties with class grades. Students can access their records from home by going the school homepage and clicking on Sheffield remote on the right-side bottom of the homepage. You may have to turn off your activex control on your computer. I will go over this with the students.

We then watched the beef reproduction video part II (45 min.). When we were done with the video we continued reading the Natural Animal Reproduction Unit - we read the Reproductive Development of Animals sub-unit (5 pages) as a group. Remember if you are gone - email me and I will email you the reading. You will need to make up the watching of the video sometime.

We are still working on Animal Reproduction Unit. Students completed a crossword on female reproduction terms. We read the Basics of Animal Reproduction and the Estrous Cycle (4 pages). Went over the extrous cycle. They then watched a twenty minute video on Intro. to Beef Reproduction Part 1.

We did a quick worksheet on Pearson Squares. Then we read the Ration Balancing and Feed Analysis sub-unit (5 pages) and you should have done the 5 checking your knowledge questions. When everyone was done with that we went over how to use Pearson Squares with more than 2 ingredients.

Class Review 1/27/09

Mr. Straube was gone to a meeting. The following is what the class did with the sub. If you were gone you need to see Mr. Straube to get your make-up work. Took quick notes on Nutrients and Their Importance to Animals. Then read The Importance of Proteins, Minerals, and Vitamins and completed the 12 questions at the end of the reading (6-pages of reading).
